This warm wool sweater is defined by a retro Norwegian pattern and a classic crewneck insert, finished in a comfortable regular fit. Returning as a faithful remake of the official 1994 Olympic ski sweater, it brings a historic design into a present-day context, reworked in a thinner, softer yarn with a refreshed fit and palette that balances heritage character with modern wearability.

The sweater is knitted using different yarn compositions depending on the colorway:

  • Nutmeg and Natural White: 100% undyed lightweight wool from Uruguay.
  • Indigo and Off White: 100% lightweight wool from South America (dyed).
  • Black and Off White: 100% lightweight wool from South America (dyed)

Learn more about the yarn types under “Details”.

Long sought after in vintage shops and often recreated by knitters, the original sweater has become a true design icon. Drawing on distinctive motifs inspired by Norse mythology, it is now reintroduced as a refined contemporary pullover, familiar in spirit and considered in expression.

This unisex garment is made with measurements corresponding our men’s sizes. For women’s sizes we recommend selecting one size smaller than your usual size.

Vanilla Sugar/Natural White colorway (M00):Nature Undyed – undyed lightweight wool: Our undyed lightweight wool (colorway M00) is sourced from Uruguay and showcases the natural color variations of the fiber, ranging from darker to brighter tones. These different shades are sorted and blended into mélanges, creating a limited range of natural colors. Since there is no dyeing process involved, the yarn remains 100% natural and biodegradable. The absence of dyeing eliminates the need for the chemicals typically used in this process, while also conserving resources like water and energy. (Fiber diameter: 27 micron). Hand wash only.

Indigo/Off-White colorway (C04) and Black/Off-White colorway (F00):Seagull – lightweight wool: Our 100% lightweight yarn from South American crossbred sheep, produced exclusively for Dale of Norway, is ideal for traditional medium-weight garments that call for a lighter and softer feel. To make the yarn machine washable, it undergoes the innovative EXP treatment, which uses natural, non-toxic salts. (Fiber diameter: 27 micron). This garment can be machine washed on a wool cycle.

A modern update to one of our biggest successes ever, our official Olympic sweater from the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer. While the shape has been updated, the pattern remains more or less unchanged from the original: consisting of symbols and figures from Norse mythology. A feminine, loose cut with a dipped back length gives this nearly 30-year-old classic a modern look.

The sweater’s symbols and figures from Norse mythology are: Frøya, the goddess of love and fertility, with the ability to foresee the future. Odin, the most powerful and wisest of the gods. He is riding Sleipner, the fastest horse in the world. Two ravens, Hugin and Munin, symbolizing thought and recollection, one pointing forward, the other backwards. And Yggdrasil, the evergreen world tree, keeping the whole world up, with branches reaching up to the sky and roots stretching down into the underworld.
